Mechanical Fitter/Machinist

About the role

Crisp Bros. & Haywards is seeking a trade qualified Mechanical Fitter/Machinist to join our team in Tasmania that services our southern operations including site construction and installation projects. We service a wide variety of clients across the aquaculture, industrial, mining and construction sectors. The position is permanent, full time after completion of a successful probationary period and is based at our Margate workshop.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical fitting and field service fitting work

• Fitting and turning activities

• Welding including MIG, MMA and TIG

• Work on hydraulic systems

About you

• Trade Certificate qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner or similar

• Previous experience in mechanical fitting, field service fitting and/or fitting and turning

• Intermediate welding skills, including MIG, MMA and TIG

• Experience with hydraulic systems is desirable

• A positive and proactive approach to workplace safety, quality and continuous improvement

• Strong hands-on work ethic and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication, fault-finding and problem-solving skills

• Flexibility to work across multiple sites as required

• A commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
