Bookkeeper

Bookkeeper: HS Outdoor Living

HS Outdoor Living is a growing, family-owned outdoor living company specializing in decks, patios, pergolas, and custom outdoor living spaces. We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Administrator to support our financial operations and administrative functions as the business continues to expand.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

• Prepare and issue client invoices; oversee billing processes

• Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis

• Track project-level job costs (materials, labor, subcontractors) to maintain accurate margin visibility

• Process payroll or liaise with our payroll provider

• Prepare financial reports (P&L, cash flow) for review by ownership

• Manage vendor and supplier payments

• Provide general administrative support, including scheduling and documentation

• Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding invoicing, payments, and account inquiries

• Assist with quarterly tax preparation in coordination with our accountant

• Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience; experience in construction, contracting, or trades industries preferred

• Proficiency in Xero required; experience with other accounting platforms an asset

• Familiarity with job costing and project-based accounting, as work is billed over multi-week or multi-month timelines

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Professional communication skills, with confidence engaging directly with clients

• Working knowledge of payroll and sales tax requirements

• High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information

• Experience with construction-specific accounting practices (e.g., progress billing, retainage) is a plus
