McKinna Group is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Finance Manager to lead our finance function and play a key role in the next stage of the business's growth and development.

This is more than a traditional finance role. We are seeking a high-calibre finance professional who can take ownership of the finance function today while developing into a broader finance leadership position with a genuine pathway to Financial Controller.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and senior management team to strengthen financial reporting, improve business intelligence, support strategic decision-making and help build the systems, processes and governance required for the next phase of growth.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Directors, the Finance Manager will lead all aspects of the finance function while partnering closely with management to improve financial visibility, accountability and business performance.

Using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and business intelligence tools, you will transform financial and operational data into meaningful insights that drive profitability, improve decision-making and support long-term business growth. 

This is a highly visible position that combines hands-on financial management with strategic involvement across multiple areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the finance function.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, compliance and reporting frameworks.
• Deliver accurate and timely financial, management and operational reporting.
• Develop and maintain budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes.
• Lead monthly management reporting and performance analysis.
• Establish KPI dashboards and business performance reporting across all departments.
• Analyse profitability by customer, project, department and product line.
• Develop commercial models and business cases to support strategic decision-making.
• Partner with operational managers to improve financial accountability and performance.
• Drive optimisation and utilisation of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and associated reporting systems.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and reporting.
• Support strategic planning, risk management and future business growth initiatives.
• Assist in developing the financial systems, governance structures and reporting capability required to support a larger and more sophisticated organisation.

About You

You are a commercially focused finance professional who combines strong financial discipline with strategic thinking and the ability to influence outcomes across the organisation.

You are equally comfortable managing day-to-day finance operations while contributing at a strategic level and helping shape business performance.

You enjoy building relationships, creating accountability through reporting and partnering with business leaders to improve results.

Essential

• CA or CPA qualified.
• Significant experience in financial management, commercial finance and management reporting.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated success improving financial systems, processes and reporting frameworks.
• Advanced analytical, financial modelling and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence managers and leaders through commercial and financial insight.
• Experience driving performance improvements through financial analysis and reporting.
• Leadership capability with the potential to build, mentor and develop a future finance team.

Preferred

• Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering or project-based businesses.
• Experience with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar platforms.
• Experience developing Power BI dashboards, reporting automation and business intelligence solutions.
• Exposure to organisational growth, operational improvement and strategic planning processes.
• Experience supporting directors and senior leadership teams with commercial decision-making.
