About Us
Julia Gillard Community College (JGCC) is an Independent School (Special Assistance Senior Secondary School) providing flexible education pathways for young people aged 15–19 years who have experienced barriers to learning.
We deliver the Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) in a supportive, inclusive environment that enables students to reconnect with education and build positive futures.

About the Role
We are seeking an organised, proactive and adaptable Administrative Assistant to join our school administration team. Fixed Term - 12 month contract. This role is Part-Time - 0.6 FTE, and during school terms only.
Working closely with the Principal, leadership team and teaching staff, you will provide high-quality administrative support across a broad range of school operations including reception, financial administration, communications and school management systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, has exceptional organisational skills and is committed to supporting positive outcomes for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
Provide administrative support to the school leadership team and staff.
Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations and other documentation.
Coordinate diaries, appointments and meetings.
Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based records.
Assist with reception duties and respond professionally to enquiries from students, families and visitors.
Support school financial administration, including data entry and preparation of financial information for review.
Assist with government and statutory reporting requirements.
Prepare routine school communications for students, families and staff.
Assist with the preparation of newsletters, publications and social media content.
Provide administrative support for Compass and other school information systems.
Assist with maintaining databases, records and documentation.
Develop and maintain administrative tools and templates to support school operations.
Undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Principal, or Business Services Officer.
What We're Looking For
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Previous experience in an administrative or office support role.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
High level written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other computer applications.
Confidence learning and using school management systems such as Compass.
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
A professional, friendly and customer-focused approach.
Desirable
Previous experience working in a school environment.
Experience with financial administration or bookkeeping.
Experience using Compass or similar student management systems.
Experience in publishing and promotions in social media

Current Employee Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
National Police Check.
Right to work in Australia.
Current Victorian Driver Licence (desirable).
