MDM Mining & Civil and MDM Crushing & Screening are a proudly Aboriginal owned businesses delivering specialised mining and civil contracting services across diverse regions and remote environments. Founded on a vision of combining technical excellence with cultural integrity, MDM has rapidly established a reputation for reliability, innovation, and community impact.
MDM is growing with approximately 100 direct employees and with new contracts coming online we are creating a new role for an experienced Human Resources Manager to come on the journey with us to lead our people and culture functions and partner with senior leaders to ensure we attract, retain, and develop a high performing workforce.
You will be responsible for all aspects of human resources across the business and will provide strategic direction and day to day operational support in a fast paced civil and mining environment.
Whilst, ideally, the role would be based in Kununurra, MDM is open to fulfilling the role from our Darwin office, or if necessary, Perth office.
The role and your responsibilities:
Lead and manage all HR functions across the business.
Provide advice and support to managers on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
Manage recruitment and onboarding processes for operational, technical and professional personnel.
Maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practice people processes.
Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, Modern Awards, employment contracts, and relevant regulations.
Support payroll and remuneration processes in conjunction with finance and administration teams.
Manage training, competency, and compliance programs.
Foster a positive workplace culture aligned with company values.
Coordinate employee engagement and retention strategies.
Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, and workforce metrics.
Support leadership with organisational change and business growth initiatives.
The skills and experience required:
Proven experience as an HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor, or similar position.
Experience within civil construction, mining, resources, transport, or related industries will be highly regarded.
Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Employment Relations, or a related field.
